Abominable Toys NYCC 2026: Chomp Exclusives, DJ Lance Rock & What's Next

Tom Whalen trading cards, DJ Lance Rock Chomp print, and DesignerCon previews — here's everything dropping from Abominable Toys this October.

Abominable Toys NYCC 2026: Chomp Exclusives, DJ Lance Rock & What's Next

Abominable Toys Chomp NYCC 2026 is happening right now — and collectors who aren't at the Javits Center need to move fast. The brand dropped two back-to-back newsletters this week confirming a roster of limited edition vinyl figure exclusives, a landmark licensed collaboration, and a full team presence at New York Comic Con from October 8–12. Whether you're hunting artist-made trading cards, limited prints, or positioning ahead of DesignerCon in November, this is one of the biggest Chomp weekends of the year.

NYCC 2026 Exclusives: Tom Whalen Trading Cards & Limited Edition Drops

Abominable Toys' Newsletter #311, published October 6, confirmed the brand's full team will be on the floor at New York Comic Con 2026. Attending are Connor McConnell, Benjamin Su, Tom Whalen (known online as @strongstuff), and Dustin Kamm — four of the most recognizable names in the Chomp creative ecosystem.

The headline exclusive is a set of limited edition trading cards illustrated by Tom Whalen. Whalen's art style — a bold, retro-poster approach that he's previously applied to Godzilla and Mothra Chomp variants — is tailor-made for the trading card format. Based on precedent from NYCC 2024, when Whalen's Heat Ray Godzilla Chomp debuted at just 100 units with a special debut sticker, expect these cards to be tightly limited and to move on the secondary market within 24–48 hours of the convention floor opening.

The Blue NYCC Tom Whalen Chomp Variant IDW Mothra #1 Comic — currently listed at $20 on the Abominable Toys store — is a companion piece to the NYCC run, pairing a variant comic cover with the event's collector ecosystem. If you're tracking Mystery Collective's collection for Abominable Toys items, these NYCC sticker-authenticated pieces are among the most document-friendly for grading and resale purposes.

DJ Lance Rock Chomp: A Licensed First for Abominable Toys

Newsletter #310, published October 5, announced the debut of the first officially licensed DJ Lance Rock Chomp print at NYCC 2026. DJ Lance Rock is the iconic orange-clad host of Yo Gabba Gabba — a children's show with outsized cultural cachet among millennials who grew up watching it and are now serious collectors in the designer toy space.

The print bridges Abominable Toys' established crossover appeal — the same instinct that produced their officially licensed Godzilla and Mothra Chomp lines — with an entirely new pop-culture IP direction. An officially licensed Yo Gabba Gabba collaboration is a genuine first for the brand, and if the print lands well at NYCC, a follow-up vinyl figure collab seems almost inevitable.

Abominable Toys licensed Chomp figures have proven more durable in value than standard colorway releases. The Bob Ross Chomp, a fully licensed figure, holds firm at $39.99 retail with consistent secondary demand. The Sket One Phase 1 Chomp — a tightly controlled artist collab — lists at $79.99 on Toy Temple. DJ Lance Rock fits directly into this licensed tier. For those looking to track drops on Mystery Collective Radar, DJ Lance Rock Chomp print inventory at NYCC will be the first real signal of demand depth for this new IP direction.

Current Chomp Ecosystem: Releases & Active Secondary Market

Even before NYCC, the Chomp lineup entering October 2026 is stacked. Newsletter #307 (August 31) — published on Chomper's official birthday — teased new Chomper figures in development, signaling that the 3" Chomper sub-line is actively expanding alongside the full-size Chomp range.

Toy Temple's current Abominable Toys inventory provides a real-time picture of where the secondary market sits heading into the convention season:

  • Chomp #195 Chris Squink x Abominable Toys (Toy Temple exclusive): $39.99

  • Handmade By Robots Patina Chomp #192 LE288 (Toy Temple exclusive): $20.00 — an unusually accessible price for a sub-300 run limited edition vinyl figure

  • Pink Fluff Chomper 3": $24.99 retail — the ideal entry point for new Chomp collectors

  • Sket One Phase 1 Chomp LE: $79.99 — artist collab premium holding steady

  • Reverse Cotton Candy Chomp: $54.99 — colorway premium intact

The Handmade By Robots Patina Chomp at $20 for a LE288 stands out as one of the most underpriced limited-run Chomps currently available at or near retail. The HBR aesthetic — a patina finish designed to replicate vintage wind-up toys — attracts a distinct collector audience, and a run of 288 units is tight enough that secondary pressure is likely once it sells through the primary channel.

What Collectors Should Know

NYCC 2026 exclusives from Abominable Toys follow a consistent pattern: they debut at the show with authentication stickers, appear briefly on Toy Temple and 7BAP post-convention in limited quantities, and then rarely surface below 2x retail on secondary markets within 90 days. The Tom Whalen NYCC 2024 Heat Ray Godzilla Chomp — only 100 units with an NYCC debut sticker — became a grail almost immediately after the show closed.

For collectors who can't attend NYCC in person, the window is the post-convention online drop through Toy Temple or 7BAP. Subscribe to the Abominable Toys newsletter and monitor Mystery Collective Radar for real-time drop alerts. After NYCC, the next major event on the calendar is DesignerCon in November in Anaheim — where Abominable Toys historically debuts its most ambitious figure of the fall season. The 2026 Crystal Series (Peridot Chomp, Garnet Chomp retailer exclusive) set a high bar for material innovation; a new Crystal or seasonal colorway at DCon 2026 is a natural follow-up. When Abominable Toys drops back-to-back newsletters in a single week as they did Oct 5–6, a major release is always close behind. Don't wait for the secondary market.
